Prevention Costs a Fraction of the Cure

Pre-construction termite treatment is by far the most effective and economical way to protect a building. Applied during construction โ€” before the slab is poured, during foundation work, and after backfilling โ€” the chemical barrier becomes an invisible, permanent shield beneath and around the structure.

Once a building is completed, creating the same soil barrier requires drilling through floor slabs, moving flooring, and accessing sub-floor spaces โ€” a process that costs many times more than pre-construction treatment and causes significant disruption. Getting it right from the start is always the better choice.

NHBRC Requirement: The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) requires termite pre-treatment for all new residential builds registered with the council in medium-to-high termite risk areas across South Africa. Our certificates are recognised by the NHBRC and all major SA banks.

When We Treat During Construction

Pre-construction termite treatment is applied at specific stages of the build process. We co-ordinate directly with your builder or site foreman to ensure no delays.

Pre-Slab Treatment
Stage 1

Pre-Slab Treatment

Applied to the levelled sub-base immediately before the concrete floor slab is poured. This is the most critical stage โ€” the chemical is applied to the soil at full coverage before any concrete permanently seals the surface.

Before slab pour
Foundation Treatment
Stage 2

Foundation Treatment

Applied to the soil at foundation level, including the interior and perimeter of all footings and foundation walls. Ensures the chemical barrier extends from soil level upward, blocking all potential entry routes.

During foundation
Perimeter Treatment
Stage 3

Perimeter Treatment

A final perimeter treatment applied around the completed building's external walls and expansion joints after backfilling. Forms the outermost defensive ring of the soil barrier system.

After backfill

Stage 4

Certificate & Warranty

On completion of all treatment stages, we issue the full treatment certificate, NHBRC documentation, and 5-year warranty. All records are retained digitally and provided to the client, builder, and registering authority.

Extensions & Additions

Adding a new room, garage, or wing to an existing structure? Pre-construction treatment on the new footprint prevents termites from colonising the extension and spreading to the main building.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Contractors & Builders

We work directly with building contractors, offering trade pricing, flexible site scheduling, and same-day certification for snagging and handover purposes.

๐Ÿ“

Architects & Quantity Surveyors

We provide specification documents, product data sheets, and compliance information for inclusion in project specs and bill of quantities.

High-Risk Building Areas in South Africa

The NHBRC and SANS 10400 classify termite risk zones across South Africa. Pre-construction treatment is mandatory in many of these areas for NHBRC registration. Even in moderate-risk zones, treatment is strongly recommended given the cost of future damage.

๐Ÿ”ด
Extreme Risk Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal (Coastal), Northern Cape (bushveld areas)
๐ŸŸ
High Risk Gauteng, North West, Eastern Cape, Free State (northern areas)
๐ŸŸก
Medium Risk Western Cape (inland), KwaZulu-Natal (midlands), Free State (southern)
๐ŸŸข
Lower Risk Western Cape (Cape Peninsula) โ€” treatment still strongly recommended

Pre-Construction Treatment Questions

Yes, in medium-to-high risk termite zones, NHBRC registration requires pre-construction termite treatment as part of SANS 10400 compliance. Our treatment certificates are accepted by the NHBRC and all major South African banks for bond registration purposes.

Ideally, we should be contacted before the slab is poured. We treat at three stages: pre-slab (most critical), during foundation work, and after backfill. We can coordinate with your builder to ensure we're on-site at exactly the right construction milestones.

If the slab has already been poured but construction is not yet complete, we can still treat foundation walls, perimeter, and expansion joints. However, the pre-slab stage provides the most complete protection โ€” contact us as early as possible in your build.

Each treatment stage typically takes 2โ€“4 hours depending on the footprint size. We work efficiently to keep your construction schedule on track and provide same-day certification after each stage.

Pre-construction treatments are backed by a 5-year warranty. If termite activity is detected within the treated area during the warranty period, we will return and re-treat at no charge. Annual inspection renewals are available to maintain warranty validity beyond year 5.

Absolutely. We offer trade accounts and contractor pricing for registered builders. We can invoice the contractor or the homeowner, issue all documentation in the required name, and attend site meetings if required.
